System updates

The following process for updating ConSol CM and its extensions applies to regular installations, i.e. systems which have been customized using the capabilities of the Web Admin Suite and Web Client. These systems can be installed and updated by deploying the standard EAR and WAR files included in the ConSol CM distribution.

If your system requires modified EAR and WAR files, you cannot update your system by yourself, but need assistance by a ConSol CM consultant.

Please perform the following steps to install an update:

  1. Read the release notes for all versions between your current version and the target version to learn about the included new features, changes and bugfixes. Most importantly, you need to check the Breaking changes and mandatory actions section of each major release to find out if there are any configuration changes which you must perform to have a working system after the update.
  2. Obtain the installation files from the ConSol CM support. You need to update the core product, i.e. dist-package-ear-<CM_VERSION>.ear, and all used extensions.
  3. Shut down the ConSol CM server and, if any, stop the extensions executed in standalone mode.
  4. Deploy the new EAR and WAR files in the appropriate directory of the application server, and replace the executables of the extensions executed in standalone mode.
  5. Restart the ConSol CM server and the extensions.
  6. Perform the mandatory steps described in the release notes, if any.
