Version 6.18.4 released

· 3 min read

Version 6.18.4 of ConSol CM makes working in the Web Client smoother: long-running workflow logic can now be executed in the background, and cases which are open in the browser automatically stay up to date.

Keep working while long-running processes run in the background

Some workflow activities and business event triggers execute extensive scripts, for example to create several tickets or to exchange data with external systems. Until now, users had to wait until such a script was finished before they could continue working in the Web Client.

As of version 6.18.4, activities and business event triggers can be executed asynchronously. The time-consuming logic runs in the background, so the Web Client is not blocked and users can continue working normally.

Asynchronous execution is configured on the Workflows page of the Web Admin Suite. It is available for activities, reopens, jump nodes, end nodes and business event triggers.

Asynchronous activities are marked with an hourglass icon, so you can locate them easily in the workflow.

Asynchronous business event triggers are displayed with a dotted line.

While an asynchronous activity is running, the Web Client displays a yellow notification with a progress bar on the case page. It shows which activity has started the background process and how far the processing has progressed. Once the processing has finished, the notification turns green. In the meantime, users can continue working on the case or switch to other pages.

Always see the latest case data

Cases are often edited by several people at the same time, and new information can arrive at any moment, for example through an incoming email. The Web Client now detects when a case which is currently open in the browser has been modified by another user or another process.

  • If the case is in view mode, it is reloaded automatically, so you immediately see the updated data. A green notification bar informs you about the reload.
  • If the case is in edit mode, a yellow notification bar informs you that the case has been changed in the meantime.

This way, you always know whether you are looking at the current state of a case. No configuration is required.

See Automatic refresh of modified cases for details.
